Small Changes Equal Big Savings
Posted on August 30, 2010 · Leave a CommentLooking for ways to save money quickly but all out of ideas? Me too, which is why I was happy to have stumbled upon this article about setting financial goals. In Laurie Pawlik-Kienlen’s piece, she discusses 8 tips for how to do just that, inspired by Suze Orman and her book The Courage to be Rich: Creating a Life of Material and Spiritual Abundance.
If you’re looking to save in a hurry, follow at least a few of these tips and see what happens to your checkbook:
- Visualize the finish line. What are you saving up for? It’s often a lot easier to put money away if you know what you’re reserving it for. Much like a race, if you know where the end point is, it is less of a struggle to reach it than if you were running for an undetermined time and distance.
- Set two days a week to spend nothing. I know, it sounds hard with all the temptations around us. You’d be surprised, though, at how much you could save just by foregoing that morning coffee (or at least by cutting down on the more expensive ones!). This also means no going out to eat and no vending machine snacking. Try this for a few weeks and watch your savings add up!
- Keep an eye on your savings. Write it down. Crunching numbers is a great way to chart your progress. So this time, instead of tallying up how much you owe, it’ll be fun because you can see how much you will have for a rainy day (or to save for that trip, purse, or whatever!).
- Determine the “why” so you can figure out the “how.” If you are an emotional shopper, knowing that is half the battle, but you can’t find a way to save if you don’t know why you spend.
These are only a handful of the tips available to you, so if you’re interested in learning more, follow the link above or check out Suze Orman’s books. She’s a personal finance genius!

Make it a Green Day
Posted on August 25, 2010 · Leave a CommentAre you a Green Day fan? If so, there is cause for excitement, because they are coming to our area! This Saturday, August 28, the band will be playing at Comfort Dental Amphitheatre to what is likely to be a huge crowd. That crowd could include you because there are still tickets!
In total, Green Day has released 8 studio albums, 5 live albums, and 3 compilation albums. They also have 34 singles to their credit. Some fan favorites that have been released by the band include “When I Come Around,” “American Idiot,” “Boulevard of Broken Dreams,” and “Welcome to Paradise.” I wonder what they will come out with next!
Here is the band performing “When I Come Around” at the Reading Festival in 2004:

In the mood for a nice juicy steak? What about one fresh off the grill at Emil-Lene’s? Highly regarded by 10Best.com, this steakhouse has some of the best steaks in the area. But let’s say that you’re just not in the mood to go out tonight. Why not whip up a nice steak at home? Here is a recipe for sirloin steak that will have your family and friends talking for a long time to come.

What Makes You Happy?
Posted on August 17, 2010 · Leave a Comment
Is happiness really just a state of mind? Experts continue to debate on this, but it is widely believed that there are some things that we can all do to at least improve the quality of our daily lives if we are willing to put in the effort. Here are some ideas to get you started:
- Be mindful: Try to stay in the moment. The here and now is all that matters, so make sure you do your best to pay attention to whatever is in front of you and leave the rest for later.
- Laugh: Laughing (and even anticipating something funny) raises endorphin levels, helping you to have a general sense of well-being, and who wouldn’t want that?
- Sleep well: Getting in some good sleep can help improve your mood dramatically. It goes without saying that those who feel rested tend to be more productive and have a more positive outlook on life in general.
- Nix the clutter: Even just making your bed before you leave for work can start your day off in a more positive direction. It’s amazing how even the little things can add up to an even brighter day!

Get pumped! If you’ve been feeling like you really need to get a workout in, you’re in luck. Not only do we have a beautiful fitness center right here on our property, but we also have access to another amazing facility close by – Life Time Fitness. Located just over 3 miles from Coyote Ranch in Parker, there is no reason not to stop by and have a look around.
Life Time is, quite possibly, the best gym out there, at least in my opinion. I have visited on many an occasion, and it has been well worth the membership fee.
Here are some of the things you can expect to see:
Indoor Leisure Pool & Lap Pool
Water Slides
Whirlpool
Saunas
Computer Center
Cafe
Salon
Retail Store
Excited yet? This list is by no means exhaustive, but you’ll just have to make a visit to see everything! Added perk: The Coyote Ranch Discount Program gets you in for no enrollment fee, and includes a free 1 hour assessment. If you are still not sure about joining after taking a tour, the gym will offer you a free pass for a day so you can try things out for yourself.
If you are interested in taking advantage of this deal, contact Jeff Tamblyn at 720-544-3015.

Enjoy some time with your pooch tomorrow, July 31, for a day of training and fun! First, from 9 – 10:30 am, participate in a session of dog training, presented by Life’s 2 Short. You and your pet can spend one hour with a trainer where you will learn socialization skills, simple commands, and more.
Then from 10:30-noon, there will be a “Paw-ty with Your Pets” event with a self-wash station, opportunities to take pictures with your pups, goodies, giveaways, and additional pet-related activities.
Both events will take place next to the sand volleyball court, so get everyone ready and come out and see us!
